I just got 2 new 16' dump gooseneck trailers for my roofers and I have to tell you I got 3 calls this week asking for bids on a re-roof. When I ordered the trailers I had them special painted with my logo and all of my info on both sides of each trailer. I was not doing this for a marketing standpoint but for a personal one and I am shocked the response I got from it. My question:

In roofing do you think apperance is a big thing in getting new clients?

Something to think about - in most communities all or most of the houses were built at or around the same time. What this equates to is most roofs will be in about the same condition. My point, as you've probably guessed, get one roofing job in these communities and advertising could keep you going for quite some time. Grumpy can probably expand on that with his experience.

Rich and I have done that, got 36 houses in a week and a half within 2 blocks from each other.

Grumpy what are you charging per square? Anyway you can share a list? 8)

I think in business appearance is big. In roofing it's really big because it's a dirty job, and when you are clean you stand out.

Even if I were a sewer cleaner I would have a clean truck with company logo.

Rich I really couldn't expand on what you mentioned other than to agree. If you are the first roofer in a subdivision, you better do a good jor or you are sliting your own throat.

I don't charge per square, but on Rich's other site you can search "a gift for my friends" or "a present for my friends" you will find an outdated estimating sheet. When it is all said and done, on a shingle job I can be anywhere from 200-300 per square, but I count every piece of material down to the last nail when I bid.

I think his last name rhymes with Cole.

But like Rich said, we'll leave it to him.

He might prefer to keep that 'Grumpy' persona. :D
