I placed a order for 500 new signs and 1 week after I got the signs made I changed my number. Now I called some decal places and asked what a sticker 2" tall by 24" would cost me black and white. And I had 2 different places tell me 7 dollars per sticker so that is 2 stickers per sign. The thing I cant understand is I bought the signs for 11 dollars a piece, is there something wrong with this picture?

$11x500 signs=$5,500

$14 for 2 decals on both sides of the sign x500=$7,000

I also changed my number by upgrading to a better cell phone. I kept the old phone active so I wouldn't miss any calls from the old signs. Can you not keep your old number alive?

I did a quick quote on a phone number sticker for you at quickstickers.com, but the price was $3,840 for 500 stickers, so that's still more than you were quoted for the 1,000 stickers.

I got an idea earlier and it works great and cheap. I was looking at my office depot catalog and saw envelope decals so I ordered some and they came today. The printable decals are 2" by 5" so they work great to cover up my number plus I can print my new number on them.

The only downside is I have use 5 decals per side of the sign because the phone number is 2"X24 but it looks really good. Plus I got 2000 decals for $30

How big are these signs you got printed and how many colors do they have? Thats seems high!

I just got 100 18"x12" 2 sided 1 color signs printed for $340 with stakes. It was only $360 for me to get 18"x24" but they are road signs and I wanted them a little smaller so they don't get taken as quick.

My signs I have now are 18" x 24". White with black numbers and letters. The prices on the decals they were quoting me for were outrageous.

I don't know any better so I have to ask. It seems like a lot of guys have a lot of signs! 500 signs, what do you do with them all? I just have a couple and I take them with me when the job is done, are you guys leaving them there? How do the arrangements with the homeowner? Do you tell them up front that you will be putting a sign on their yard or does it just show up?

What do we do with them? Leave them on the job site for weeks. That's what I do. INfact at $3 a sign I don't even bother to pick them up unless the customer calls, and my response is "Oh! That's where that sign went. Thanks!"

I never tell the owner, it just shows up. If the complain I will remove it without hesitation.

Mike have you ever read my post about "spring advertising knockout"? That advertising campaign takes hundreds of signs to accomplish.

I actually tell the homeowner I am putting a sign in the yard, but like grumpy said I lose half of them.

We have a lot of other companies that go by and steal the signs and throw them away in Dallas.

I'm with Mike - when I first started my first company I only had one sign. A very nice 4'x3' on 3/4" with vinyl lettering - in fact I still have it :))

I just curious what some of these roofing companies are doing sign wise. Our neighborhood was blasted by hail this summer and just about everybody got new roofs. Yard signs got to be a running joke and really an eye soar to most of us after 6 months of it. Some of these people had their roofs done 6 months ago and they still have yard signs in their front yards! I can't figure out if some of these companies talked them into leaving them up for a certain time for some sort of pretend advertising discount on their roof, or if some of these people think that throwing out one of these $3 signs is going to land them in small claims court!

I've watched people carefully pull it out of the ground to mow and then carefully place it right back where it was, its too funny.

Mike, that is actually funny. I have had a customer call me and ask if they can take the sign out of their yard. At the end of our conversation he made sure that if he took it out I wouldnt take him to court, so Im pretty sure there are people out there that are not taking them out because of the fear of being sued.
