What do you use most for marketing

Mostly Signs and Banners and just simply word of mouth are my biggest marketing tools.

But pretty much I would have to say my choice is All of the above

Newspaper ads are generally my only source of calls, even though I use business cards and yard signs.

Local newspaper service directory ads are all I have done so far, but more stuff is on the way.

I voted for website, but I also use large volume of leads from lead services.

Hey newspaper guys do you suggest classified adds or actual adds scattered throughout the paper?

I have used newspaper ads for 2 years and havent had that much success, what are you guys doing different?

I tried the newspaper ads - the best ones (at least in the area I was in) was a services only section. They printed it every Saturday and only had people that provided services to homeowners.

Yep Rich, that is what I am currently running. Every local paper has a service directory. I only work out of about a 10 mile area, you know it well I'm sure, Jeffco and Douglas County, who could ask for anything more? The service directory ads seem to get you a certain dollar amount of work, about 80% of the calls generated are handyman type stuff and small projects with about 20% being the normal stuff I'm looking for. I'm rolling out other sources of advertising to see what that brings in. But I'm now ready to place long term commitments with some of these local papers for service directory ads and take advantage of the deeper discounts that gives you, now that I know how to use them properly. As things progress they will basically function as back ground noise keeping me busy between projects and possibly allow me to hire a handyman to start servicing them for me.

I will be placing ads in the first of the 3 yellow pages that service our area this month also.
