I'm looking at burdens and am running about 43% of labor cost.
I.E. 14 / hr bare labor = 20.12 burdened. Is that average, above, below?

I put this into Estimating - as it fits a little better.
Anyway - the labor burden I'm carrying is for Work Comp, Retirement (15%), and payroll management (as the major contributors) - it will also eventually cover health insurance which might bump it to 50% or a little over.

Well as you may know the roofing industry is much higher. Expcent 50% just for GL and WC. Now add the rest of Uncle Sam's burdens.

Yeah - I was thinking for roofing it would be in the neighborhood of 65-70% easy.

At my last job I used to tell my customers that for every dollar I paid my employees I paid half dollar to my insurance and half dollar to uncle sam, when they asked why the price was so high. Then when they said why is xyz so cheap I said they are either cheating their insurance or they are cheating uncle sam.

I might have been exagerating by saing it was dollar for dollar but not exagerating by much.
