I operate out of my home. Always have and most likely always will. It sure lowers the overhead costs of doing business not to have a commercial location.

Pros: Obviously, the lower cost of doing business. Many of the things you normally pay for each month (like telephone and internet access among others), can be taken off your taxes as a business expense.

Cons: People still like to do business with a streetcorner commercial location where they can drop by at their convenience.

Home office works for me. Wouldn't mind a 'real' office, but then, that would cut into my 'toy', oops, I mean 'tool' fund.

Yeah - the only problem I've seen with a home office is when meeting with a client that's looking for a home in the 2-3million dollar range. They expect a real office with the secretary and all that.. for the most part anyway.

This is the reason I have a office outside of my home. Plus I have 15 full time employees working for me doing drafting and engineering plans.

Yeah - 15 people might have a tough time fitting in my garage :)
